Water Distribution

The Water Distribution Department provides support for all Water delivery in the town. The Town of Maiden owns and maintains 39 miles of water distribution lines, and 3 above-ground storage tanks. The Town of Maiden purchases its water from the City of Hickory which draws and treats from the Catawba River. The Town of Maiden uses approximately 1.0 million gallons per day, with the capability to deliver 3 million gallons per day. Samples are taken on a schedule provided by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality to ensure a safe product is delivered to our customers. The water distribution and wastewater collection crew consist of 4 employees with over 40 years of experience combined. All employees are state certified in their respective fields.

The water distribution crew repairs main line breaks and installs and repairs service taps for drinking water and irrigation purposes. The water distribution crew routinely flushes water lines to maintain safe drinking water quality throughout the system.
